EYEHATEGOD (us)
As a band that helped create a genre as well as a equate a city with a sound, these sludge metal stalwarts are bigger now than ever. Partly so because of all the bands that praise them nowadays as a big influence and the other half might have something to do with their notoriety. But make no mistake; it’s all about the music here. ‘Black Sabbath meets Black Flag with a bit of Skynyrd and a blues element thrown in for good measure’ they described it once themselves. They heir second album, 1993’s “Take As Needed For Pain” is the reference that other bands in the genre still point to in 2024. New Orleans in da house dear friends, and their Mardi Gras is almost as famous as Oilsjt Carnaval. Party lurking at the door.

A couple of years ago, they were already present at Oilsjt Omploft. A quote from the lines we used back then: “…a fertile mix of bands like Imaginary Dictionary and Reproach, but it all sounds a bit darker.” Their demo at the time already caught our attention in a positive way. So many years later, with official releases under their belt and an incredible list of gigs richer, they are back again. This time to support Eyehategod.
A couple of years ago, they were already present at Oilsjt Omploft. This band immediately came to our attention as the necessary support for EHG. They rose out of the ashes of experimental post-doomband ‘Zeus Walks The Earth’. And this time, they went for a more sludgy stonerdoom sound. Slow and heavy are the key words here. Last year they released their debut album ‘Ominous’ on Belgian label Consouling Sounds. One of Belgium’s most heavy bands are local heroes in the making. Give them they support they deserve in our town.
